The Angels Christmas Market in Scotland, in the heart of Edinburgh, has been very popular
among both locals and tourists in the previous years. Visitors enjoyed the unique atmosphere
of the market in a picturesque setting under the Castle Hill and historical ambience within Edinburgh.
The design has been enjoyed by young and old alike.

We once again look forward to the market areas in East Princes Street Gardens and in the Mound Precinct.
We are confident to offer each exhibitor a good service. Edinburgh's Christmas is a visitor magnet for the
500.000 inhabitants of Edinburgh, the Scottish and the numerous tourists from all over the world.
The Angels Christmas Market in Edinburgh has won visitor hearts constantly over the years due to the
romantic and unique design, arrangement and lighting. We are thrilled to invite you to this
successful event in Edinburgh as a participant.

Market areas 2019

The Mound Precinct (A1)

Surrounded by the Royal Scottish Academy and the Scottish National Gallery, the traditional Angels Christmas Market will take place on the Mound Precinct. The market will be illuminated with stars and sparkling, twinkling lighting to adjust to the extraordinary ambience. We will take care of the obligatory decorations on the roof of the huts for our exhibitors. On this site only the prescribed hut system is permitted you can hire from us. Catering is an exception from this.

East Princes Street Gardens (A2)

The Big Wheel, one main attraction of Edinburgh's Christmas is located right next to the famous Scott Monument at East Princes Street Gardens. Visitors are attracted by the unique romantic atmosphere and lighting of the market, its wide range of caterings and by various traditional attractions such as the unique Christmas Tree Labyrinth. Many visitors to Edinburgh's Christmas reach the city centre from the railway and bus station which is adjacent to the market area. This way visitors will walk back and forth through the market. On the straight pathways only the standardized hut system is permitted. Catering is an exception from this.

Electrical meters and connections for more than 3KW cables will not be provided by the organizer!
If you choose to be charged by actual consumption, it is mandatory that the meter is installed and working by the first full opened event day. If not you will be charged the full amount of the flat rate on the next day. Electricity will be charged during the event based on the meter reading of usage (per KW/h).

Details renting hut system "EDI"

The rental hut system "EDI" (for certain spaces obligatory!) can be used on the entire market and is mandatory for certain areas. The huts feature an exceptional appearance and optimal functionality. Huts are constructed modular in 2 m units (available are 4, 6 and 8 m huts). Thanks to the shutters, the huts can be closed in a few seconds from the outside. If desired, the entire front can be opened to use the hut as a walkable version (open and partly-open). The hut is equipped with a sturdy wooden roof and a wooden floor. Side lattice windows are attached, which must not be covered during the sales period.

Compliance with the foregoing requirements is strictly controlled. We reserve the right to make changes/repairs at your expense. Please pay close attention to the mandatory requirements!

Requirements for the design and decoration of the sales outlet
  • Please use warm white light only; flashing-effects, running lights, etc. are prohibited.
  • Brushwood and decorative elements must be made of natural materials. Figures made of plastic and plastic trees are not permitted.
  • Outside, veneering of any kind, airbrush materials, banners, displays, advertising signs, including descriptions of assortments printed on plastic signs, are expressly prohibited.
  • The inside of the hut and the display are to be lined with materials.

The lease cost includes the following equipment
Illumination: In addition to the illuminated decoration, there are LED-fairy lights mounted on the lower roof front. On the inside, the hut is equipped with a perfect lighting system (light garland for room lighting and power rail with spotlights for the table display). Each market hut will be fitted with at least one illuminated star.

Roof decoration: Huts with pitched roofs will be covered with a pretty decoration island. Two spotlights light up the little spruce tree and the Christmas scene.

Counter: Consisting of two separate countertops per 2 m stand width, closely connected. There is storage space below the counter.

Grid: Above the counter attractive detachable wire grids with 80 cm depth are attached for an optimal presentation of the hanging decoration. There is additional storage capacity above the grids (for lighter items only!).

Shelf: The system with cantilevers (at the back wall) can be adjusted to meet your needs (up to 4 shelves per 2 m width). The size of one single shelf is 28 cm x 189 cm.

Lock system: The door has provided one locker, shutters can be locked with a set of provided padlocks. Two sets of keys are issued.

Requirements for applicants with own hut

Requirements for trader-owned market huts
  • Cottages are admissible with gabled roofs (roofs facing forward) and pointed gable roofs (side roofs). We highly appreciate lattice side windows which create a uniform transparency to the sale sides.
  • Wood panelling are to be glazed dark brown (rosewood, ebony).
  • Roofs must be designed uniformly – red roof tarpaulins are permitted only.
  • A voluminous green garland (artificial material) must be mounted on the lower roof front and visible sides, equipped with a LED-fairy lights (sumptuous glitter sparkle with lots of light spots) in warm white light colour.
  • All huts get an illuminated roof and/or a front decoration - the elements are provided and mounted by the organisers. The prerequisite for this is a solid and stable roof. In addition, a natural and individual design of the roof and the front area is welcome according to prior arrangement.

They could only rent a hut if they sell: Prepacked food, Convenience Food, Ready to Eat Food. It is not allowed to cook, bake, grill or roast inside the hut, respectively sell comestibles that are processed inside.
